Minutes:

1. Tinderbox Status

Jim reported up and running. Stuart looking at Perl. Does lots of downloads.
Jim happy everything runs on Linux - Redhat 9, Mandrake 9.1, etc. About 6 
platforms mentioned.

Some problems with Errors that did not exist. Programmer error (Jim) - now 
corrected.

Egbert asked if the diff-list of the error (from about 4-5-6 lines above 
the error) could be moved to the summary? Egbert feels this will help see 
where the error is immediately. John to investigate. John commented on too 
many changes. Jim will update tarball on his home directory.
Egbert asked to point people at the CVS. Jim has done this.
Jim will tag things in CVS.

Build status is being checked by fgrep - which seems to work correctly. 
Checking status using Perl might be better.
Egbert thinks can just return error to Perl to be part of the event 
summary. John will look into it, as concerned with current approach. Need 
to make sure this implementation of tinderbox is robust.

Harold asked about setting up tinderbox. Run in own machine. Detail on 
setup in web page and wiki.


2. Bug Status

223 - build breaks because fontconfig 2.2.0 does not build with freetype 
2.1.7. Need Keith to do fontconfig release that can build with Freetype 
2.1.7. tree is still using xft 2.1.2 which does not show problem. xft2.1.3 
shows problem. fontconfig 2.2.0 does not make xft2.1.3 happy.

Keith could get 2.3 done today. Mike Harris needs to get 2.1.3 (named 
libxft-2.1.3).
Keith said fontconfig 2.2.0 and 2.3.0 are ABI compatible.
Egbert wants to ship it, because confusion over which version to use.
Keith said he will get 2.3.0 built today, and then said it should be made 
an external dependency like libc. Need to have 2.3.0 installed before 
installing X.
Keith thinks freetype should be external dependency too. Egbert not happy. 
Open to confusion by users who need to supply the external dependency. 
Expects everything to be in the tree that is released. Egbert thinks 
installing RPMs and then install X, will allow people to build inconsistent 
systems.

Keith could release a 2.2.2 version of fontconfig which could just fix the 
build problems with xft and freetype. Would also come up with a version of 
xft 2.1.4 to fix the compatibility of building with freetype.

Egbert asked for a diff of the versions 2.2.0 vs 2.2.2 and 2.1.3 vs 2.1.4. 
Keith agreed. Also asked Keith to look at the release notes and get the 
right versions inserted. Egbert will make all the other packages optional 
as appropriate.

257 - acknowledged it can wait - could implement if the review through 
X.Org finishes in time.
285 - OK - just waiting for Egbert to commit.
287 - Alan Coopersmith says OK, again just waiting for Egbert to commit.


3. Render Update & Xfixes extension.

Damage had dependency on Xfixes which had dependency on Render.
Stuart feels need to build separate branch if want to work on them
Not something for release. Keith and Egbert think not ready for release yet.
Keith will only do protocol or library changes if necessary. Not planning 
any server changes for Render in the release.
Keith indicated that Stuart could remove the dependency of Xfixes on 
Render. Stuart would like to remove it. Keith and Stuart will handle off-line.


4. Scheduling, Naming and Release Candidate.

Jim thinks we should have a release candidate soon.
Keith thinks we can do a release candidate without solving the

Egbert suggests what is being released is the same as XFree86 4.4.0. Only a 
couple of lines of changes, and the MIT licenses.
