All,
The minutes of today's release call:
Attendees:
Jim Gettys
Stuart Kreitman
Howard Greenwell
Paul Anderson
Egbert Eich
Kaleb Keithley
Leon Shiman
Minutes:
Egbert working on build suite - try to finish today - but received internal
work that needed fixed. Now has mouse problem. Returning to work on the
build suite this evening. Modifying XFree86 tools. Safest way at present.
XFree86 needs a tool called extract to analysis the tarballs - need to
investigate.
Agreed that we probably do not need to provide binaries in the release.
Should focus on getting tinderbox right.
SUSE press people feel should give more credit XFree86 earlier in the press
release.
Howard to try and update the text to reflect this.
Egbert would like to know how we add more platforms. Stuart wondered if
there were "compile farms" that could be used - not sure.
Should ask Daniel about how Debian do compiling and testing
392 - Howard will be ready with member application pages tomorrow,
hopefully go live as soon as member agreement is approved.
384 - Egbert will pull some text together from other pages. Paul and Jim
will start work on the wiki.
Egbert wants to move away from XFree86 style. Should provide most in HTML
from release.
Egbert will check where the scripts are, and if freely available will send
a pointer to Jim.
Leon noted that the new home page would be ready by the end of today.
Jim to ask keith if the wiki page can remain invisible to the general
public until ready to make the release.
Paul asked if we needed to merge between the RELEASE branch, and the -TM
branch.
Egbert wants to get mouse fixed first, but after that, he will merge the TM
and RELEASE branch shortly.
Jim still working on Build.SGML, but otherwise OK on docs.
Egbert needs approval from Jim and Keith (once docs finished) to do the merge.
Egbert will send a note this evening indicating that the merge will be done
at 12 noon CET - 6am EST.
Discussion on Fees suggested that did not want to have fees for people
participating in the community. Should charge for non-members(?), but allow
students to be free. Should encourage sponsorship of meetings, etc.
Stuart wants the group to start thinking about the next release to include:
seb, damage, fixes, latest render, and composite.
Want discussion on lists - suggested xorg_arch as appropriate list - Paul
to put it on the agenda for next Monday's call.
Next call on Friday.
Jim to finish checking TM changes with Keith.
Howard.
