Jim asked me to forward the following e-mail to this list to remind
everyone that we will be having a release wranglers call today to
discuss the planning for the next release.  The call in numbers are
included below.

To all registered X.Org Foundation Members:

Enclosed is an announcement for an open TelConf to discuss major issues 
relating to Future X.Org Releases. This announcement is being sent to the 
160 registered Members of X.Org with the approval of the Board of Directors, 
because of the importance of this issue to the Foundation.

We feel it is important to increase active participation in the discussion. 
The number listed below will support 50 participants. 

Two additional documents are being sent you, following this one. If you wish 
to attend, PLEASE READ THOSE DOCUMENTS as well as the agenda. They are 
necessary background material. 

For the many members who will not attend, we encourage you strongly to read 
the documents, and participate in email discussions of these issues (see 
list information below).

Planning the next release

* Scheduling
  - Tentatively set to happen in the next 6 months
  - What other organizations/companies/individuals should we be
    coordinating with?

* Release goals
  - What are the goals (e.g., features, major bug fixes, etc.) for the
    next release?
  - How can we get people involved in setting and fulfilling the goals?
  - When should the goals be set?

* Release manager
  - How should the release manager be chosen?
  - When should a release manager be chosen?

* Support infrastructure
  - What support tools do we need to start working on now to have
    prepared in time for the upcoming release?
  - What testing procedures, programs, tools, etc. are needed?
  - Examples: VSW5, tinderbox, others?

Note: This is not meant to be an exhaustive list.
