[SCIM] Scim under non-gtk applications

Hi,

I use Scim 0.99 on Debian under Gnome, my problem is that it doesn't
work with aplications that are not gtk application, like OpenOffice,
Kedit..., but it works in software for which i can choose the input
method like Gaim, Gedit...

What can i do to fix the problem ?
