Is there a reason for:

aclocal-1.7 -I m4 \
[snip]
  && automake-1.7 --add-missing --foreign --copy \

aclocal 1.9 and automake 1.9 also work, and these hardcoded values will
cause me to have to run autogen.sh by hand.

I don't see much motivation about keeping the hardcoded version numbers,
someone wants to explain if they're really needed?  Otherwise I'd propose to
strip them.
