Having something not convenient for the programmer is not really important, i'm glad there are lots of programmers contributing time and effort, but they all should understand that the easier they make it in programming terms, the harder it'll be to use for end users.
This will ofcourse not be an issue for console programming, but for GUI's it's very important, especially if we want to make linux the dominant OS.
