ATM its desktop-specific, but if we geta a shared mimetype system it
could be done there. The idea of generic user-customizations of the
icon-theme strikes me as probably bad.

Last time I proposed any sort of common names for icons I was shot down
and flamed. Maybe we can restart that discussion now?
