Hello Jim and Keith,
Yes, I can help be the maintainer for libXt.
I can fetch the CVS from xfree86.org for xc/lib/Xt. Should I start with
the MAIN branch. Or should I start with a certain tag? (Or should I just
start with X430src-1 tarball?)
Then I will compare some of the already available freedesktop.org's X
Libraries and Protocol Headers Project tarballs to same directories to get
an idea of how you want the auto* done.
I see that libX11-6.2.1 used automake 1.7.7 and Autoconf 2.57.
Yes, I understand that the basic structure and hierarchy of directories
and filenames should not change, so it can be compatible with real
XFree86 (in case it can go back).
After I have autotooled this, I will provide a tarball for this lists
review.
Any other hints on how to get started?
Or does anyone have a beginnings of this?

p.s. For your information, I am a NetBSD developer focusing on pkgsrc
collection work. (I also work on pkgsrc-wip, a sourceforge project.) I
work on patching and configuring a wide-range of third-party software so
it will portably build and properly install on a variety of operating
systems. (pkgsrc is useful for many operating systems.) I also maintain
vm-pop3d (now CVS hosted at sunsite.dk) and some other small open source
projects. My Xt Intrinsics skills are minor -- I have only written a
couple small Xt programs, but I can work at reviewing submissions and
keeping it in sync with XFree86 (and other) Xt.
