[Xorg] cvs warning on checkout

hi all

fyi, i get a (seemingly harmless) warning when i check out xc:

 # cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs at cvs.freedesktop.org:/cvs/xorg co -r XORG-6_7_99_903 xc
cvs checkout: warning: cannot open /cvs/xorg/CVSROOT/val-tags read/write: Permission denied
cvs checkout: Updating xc
U xc/BUILD
....

i'm using Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 1.11.14 (client/server) on
SuSE 9.1
