[Xorg] dummy driver for testing?

hi

is there some way to prevent the desktops switching while running
xreg on the xorg server?

my desktop flashes back and forth between F7 and F8 screens, especially
at the start of the test run. this happens with both the mga driver and
the dummy driver... the only difference is that the mga driver
actually shows a valid-looking X session on F8 while the test runs,
while the dummy driver shows a bunch of garbage...

is there a reason to use the dumy driver, or can i just use the
normal mga driver while running the tests?
