Sorry but that doesn't make sense to me. I described in that email how I
could add a write-combining range manually by using:
# echo "base=0xd8000000 size=0x2000000 type=write-combining" >| /proc/mtrr
# cat /proc/mtrr
reg00: base=0x00000000 ( 0MB), size= 512MB: write-back, count=1
reg01: base=0xd0000000 (3328MB), size= 128MB: write-combining, count=1
reg02: base=0xd8000000 (3456MB), size= 32MB: write-combining, count=1
Surely if the kernel support was disabled that wouldn't work?
