Yeah, it would seem if its just not up to it, then we aren't being as
efficient as we could be. The linux philosophy seems to be that
innovation is more important than backwards compatibility.
I would think that new drivers for new cards are top priority and fixing
inefficiencies to be second, and adding yet more new features would be
at the end of the chain. I don't personally have the background to work
on this myself though, as much as I'd like to volunteer.
