I don't know if you've already tried this, but XORG 6.8 uses a new
keyboard driver called "kbd" not "keyboard". You'll have to change this
under the appropriate "device" section in /etc/X11/XF86Config (or the
new /etc/X11/xorg.conf). This may or may not help.
