Testing a xorg.conf without logging out?

OK, thank you so much to you and to those who replied in private. 

I was thinking that this should be in a FAQ and in the xorg.conf man
page: I spent a lot of time Googling but I didn't find any mention of
this (neither Xorg or XFree86).  Every time they were speaking about
login out and back in, even when people were specifically asking the
same question as me.
