xorg and ansi c compliance

I am currently making some modifications to the xserver for a class. In particular, we are compiling in additional libraries, of which none have ansi, C90 standard compliant headers.

Changing the CC options from with xorg.tmpl seems to work, however, I am looking for input from anyone familar with the compilation of the xorg tree w/o the -ansi -pedantic options.
