Yes, I don't think it has anything to do with the mga driver.

The fb layer (xc/programs/Xserver/fb). Old Xvnc versions (and still
RealVNC, I think) uses cfb/mfb. See

as I understand, using RENDER with cfb is hard.

Well, when using vnc.so, my MGA graphics card displays the menus
correctly. The same goes for "xwd -root".
