Clyde,

Thank you for taking the time to help. The problem I am having with
three units is a bit different than what I can understand from your bug
report.

I am running gdm GDM 2.6.0.8 that is part of the standard installation
of FC4. I did a system update after the installation with yum -y update,
and when I look at the yum logs there has been no change of gdm.

After the update was accomplished I rebooted. The boot gui appears
normally, and xfs is started with success with an "OK". After the hal
daemon is started the system tries to switch to the login screen and
that is when the screen becomes unusable. It appears as though the
resolution is wrong or the scanning rate is wrong. The normal graphics
of the login screen can not be identified. I have tried to guess where
the cursor might be and to login with the unusable gui , but have not
been successful I am able to login via ssh remotely, and I can use a
terminal interface if I boot to run level 3.

I have other PC's that are running FC4 with the same updates that are
functioning without problems. The 3 units that are having this problem
have one thing in common that I have observed, they are all "E-Machines"

Any thoughts?

Greg
