Evdev ?

Hello everybody,

I have a problem to understand what "evdev" means exactly. Is there one 
name for 3 different projects ?

1st case : evdev is a driver for xorg made by idealcorps to support a 
touchscreen.

2nd case : An evdev protocol seems to exist for xkb to use in xorg.conf. 
I heard of it, but I did not found a documentation about it. It seems to 
be included in some distibutions but is not officialy supported by xorg.

3rd case : evdev is a programming library for input devices.

Does anyone knows exactly what is going on ?
