Hi Alan,
commit d0d4581be22aba9021c5a672bd9e5ba719961e29 in xdm ("Make #ifdef XPM
only control whether XPM pixmap logo is shown") has been fixed by
f513239490e3812f9cede92bd17febf818dc88df, but it might need more fixing.
The combination of those patch does:

I see why #ifdef XPM is removed, but I don't see why the XHASHelse
section is removed in this commit(s). We actually have one user
complaining that the login screen is now too large for 800x600.
