Don't know anything about programming and ATI/AMD, but as a *former* 
lawyer, I can tell you that there is nothing driven *BY* the lawyers. 
Remembers, lawyers are whores who will do whatever they are asked by 
their bosses. So, the change which is needed is the change of the 
management, and that (I guess) already happened when ATI was bought by 
AMD.
