Input driver for X Windows as an X input

I am developing a new HCI for my X windows where i can replace the mouse
with my motion of fingers and perform the desired actions.Do help as to how
to start off writing the code for the input driver where so that i can
replace the mouse for my linux system.Has there been any related work done
in this regard.Do help.
