i915 problems with slow rendering of anti-aliased text and slow redrawing of windows

Hello!

I have got some issues with my i915 Intel video adapter. Whenever
anti-aliased text has to be redisplayed, it takes really long and one
can actually see the text being redrawn. One example would be xchat -
every time I change windows, all the text is being slowly redrawn and
that is quite annoying. It's not only xchat, of course, konsole, kate,
kwrite all fall into the same category. With Firefox it's a bit
different - when its window is restored, it takes a while for it to
appear and at certain pages the scrolling is painfully slow (for
example, GMail with lots of opened mails).

I've got this problem ever since I switched to Yoper, i did not have
it before when I was on Ubuntu. However, since nobody from the team
could help me, I decided to ask here, maybe somebody would know.

xorg-xserver version is 1.2. I tried both the default i810 driver as
well as the xf86-video-intel from CVS and the result is pretty much
the same.

lspci gives
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile
915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML
Express Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Please let me know if I can provide any additional piece of
information that might be of relevance.

Thanks a lot in advance,
Petar.
