unable open xterm

Remember that X server is the machine with the screen where you want
to see it. So in this case, Windows 7 should be your X server. You can
install Cygwin's X server, then launch it on your Windows machine, and
then Putty should be able to run X client programs on the local X
server (Windows 7).
