This is exactly the problem that we want to resolve. No matter what target we
are running our firmware on, or the load of the system we want to have
consistent timestamps in the pipeline. This is important for us in order to
have perfectly synchronized audio and video. This method is also used by us to
timestamp the video pipeline from our video source element.
