HAL, Palm and Card Export II

I have a Palm Handheld with a program called Softick Card Export II, that 
makes the SD act as a USB storage device. After installing KDE i get a error 
on the Palm whenever i try to connect to my computer. I found this thread

describing the problem, with a possible fix for udev, but i doesn't correct 
the problem. Killing hald, however, does. How can i get HAL to ignore the 
device?
