usb suspend Nokia phone

Hi,

my Nokia mobile phone likes to complain that "data might be lost" when I
disconnect it from the USB port without previously suspending the device
(i.e. echo suspend > /sys/bus/usb/.../power/level).

Is there a way to make hald suspend the device before it is removed? If
no, could you point me to some explanation how I could get suspending
integrated with pumount and gnome?

I am using debian/testing with a gnome desktop.
