Hal hang on startup

I am currently running Arch Linux and HAL version 0.5.12
Several updates to HAL didn't fix the problem.

When my computer turns on and all the daemons start HAL takes about 20
seconds to start.
After I log in I can restart HAL in 0.1 seconds.

I edited /etc/rc.d/hal and changed line "/usr/sbin/hald" to "/usr/sbin/hald
--verbose yes --use-syslog"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
