Just do document that this *is* possible:

I tried to enable USB NMEA output on my Huawei E392. Not only did it not
work.  The device now resets immediately after mode switching, before
being fully up, making it impossible to restore the previous setting.

Well, consider yourselves warned.  The firmware may crash on unsupported
settings, *after* making them permanent.  You are then stuck unless you
have some way to talk to the bootloader, and know how to restore the
settings using only the bootloader interface.
