"Area" was a new name for what used to be "Background" (I have no idea about
the motivation, just noting). It it the term also used in menus and dialogs; so
either the rename should be universal (so that user sees consistent term
throughout the UI), or we don't change it here.

Wrt "Effect" - it was expected that other effects would also land here, the
first one *potentially* being shadow, and even if shadow would not, other
missing effects might get implemented eventually. I would not advise do this
rename.
