I think the group list takes to much space. it should be a combo box on 
top of the packagelist.

Sorry for the ugly ascii art, hope you get the point.

The Install/remove buttons is not need, the state should just be changed 
when the user checks and unchecks the package, but there should be a 
'Process / Execute' button.

Usercase.
The user checks some packages to install and some other are unchecked to 
be removed.
The user ckicks on the execute/process button and is presented for a 
dialog with the packages he has selected for installation, with a 
possiblity to remove some of the packages.
The user clicks OK and pk is starting to process the actions.
