[Uim] uim user interface

When I first started using uim with anthy (middle of 2004) uim 
displayed a widget in the icewm taskbar which was "a" (or after 
pressing shift-space, "あ").

Then, following an upgrade in the autumn, it became a widget with 
three symbols: "a R sw".

Now I have uim 0.4.6 and it is back to just "a" again.

What determines the appearance of this widget? (I am trying to 
make a user manual for people like me, i.e. "dummies"..).
