ok i make it so it compiles with xcursor. i just created a xrender.pc in 
/usr/x11R6/lib/pkgconfig with that in it:
prefix=%{x11prefix}
exec_prefix=${prefix}
libdir=${exec_prefix}/%{_lib}
includedir=${prefix}/include

Name: Xrender
Description: X Render Library
Version: %{xrenderver}
Cflags: -I${includedir} -I%{x11includedir}
Libs: -L${libdir} -lXrender  -L%{x11libdir} -lX11

that did it for me.

but my fonts are still screwed up: have a look:

what could that be? i tried it with all kinds of fonts, but nothing
really worx :/
