Can you explain more what you mean with this? Would you like to
document what metadata is part of files of different mime types, for
example the metadata that is part of an ID3 tag for mp3 files?

The Shared file metadata spec looks pretty much like such a document.
I think it would be useful if it could be adapted for use also with
xattrs. To accomplish this I think it should describe how its metadata
fit in the user writable EA namespace which begins with "user.". Also
I am not sure how well some of its number data types would work
together with xattrs and command line tools. Perhaps an alternative
representation could be used when set as xattrs?

The metadata it describes as "writable" would be useful to set as
xattrs, while the readonly must be retrieved by other means.
