I ran this as well, and at first it was running, however I removed
iptables and firestarter and re-installed (removing the rules because I
wasn't actually actively using it regardless) and I still don't get
anything in avahi-discover.  And I still get the add service failed when
starting avahi.  Do I need to run a DNS server on my machine as well in
order for this to work?

netstat -ulpn returns
