Yes. The daemon has three command line options which should be used by
the "start", "stop" and "reload" commands for init scripts. When
starting avahi, pass "-D" as argument. When stopping avahi, pass "-k",
and when requesting a reload, please pass "-r".

Everyone should use these option instead of sending signals directly.
