Didn't want to upset anyone, but the final dot problem appeared when I
used zeroconf with apache software, so it is related to the current
thread: it has an impact on how vhost are handled and the HOST
environment variables that apache transmits to the downstream
application (proxy balancer).

Just wanted to make sure the problem is known and its correctly
handled in mod_dnssd, since this is what will replace self made avahi
service declarations.
