[cairo] Would assembler drop-ins be accepted?

Hi there!

I plan with the idea to learn x86 assembler (I just know 8051 and PIC16 
till now) and I would be interrested in writing some optimized code 
drop-ins.
The plan I would have would be to have 2 or more implementations (plan C 
and assembler variants) and if something is changed in the C-version the 
coresponding assembler could me marked as deprecated.

what do you think?
