[cairo] NPR with Cairo?

Hello,
I'm just starting to enjoy cairo and what it can do for me.  Where I want to
go is non-photorealistic rendering, and I'd rather not have to implement it
all myself.  Does anyone know of any NPR packages written on top of cairo
that have an API?  In fact, it doesn't even have to be cairo-based (it would
be nice, though, since I've just started getting cairo figured out), but I
do want something that runs on a Mac.

If anyone is familiar with ArtRage, I'd love something like that (they don't
have an API and no plans to do one).
