it does look better now.
i tested it also with a 800x600 display: when the browser is maximized 
the layout is OK, for a smaller windows, we have overlap again.

AFAIK those side columns are intended to contain additional info in the 
future, see the original mockup from Jon[1] or the parts commented in 
the page.
