Hi Richard,

I have made some progress since yesterday but am stuck again!

I removed the nvidia driver and rebooted - now the nouveau/Gallium
driver is running. This change resulted in my display "Dell - DELL
1901FP" being listed as a device in the system-settings -> colour
window. It is listed as Uncalibrated. There is a bulletted sub-entry
labelled "Default, DELL 1901FP" with a calibration status of Not
Specified.

The Calibrate button is greyed out.

So far so good, I think.

When I plugged in my Pantone Spyder2 colorimeter into a USB port, the
Calibrate button becomes solid.

But when I click on Calibrate, nothing happens.

I googled without revelation. I found a site which suggested that
argyllCMS was required so I installed it. But it made no difference
(even after rebooting).

How do I calibrate my display?
