Further progress: Apparently gnome-color-manager is required but was
not installed as a dependency of gnome. It's installed now. Clicking
on Calibrate now brings up a wizard. But the wizard is broken - it
crashes when trying to control the spyder2. A grey patch comes up
briefly on the monitor before the crash.
So I gave up on the gnome settings route and did the calibration and
profile generation from the command line using the Argyll tools.
Selecting the generated profile for the display using gnome settings
-> colour appears to work: The entire display immediately changed
colours slightly (actually it got a bit darker overall).
But now have a question concerning "colour aware" apps such as
RawTherapee. RawTherapee has a setting to select the Monitor Profile.
Given that I've selected a profile for the display in gnome settings,
should I leave the RawTherapee setting to None?
Cheers,
Justin.
