I've seen a nice-looking patch for D-Bus on OS X to use an Apple API to
get a unique session ID, and use that to name the socket. This solved
half of the problem for finding a running instance, and if this failed
then dbus-launch-osx or whatever could be spawned by the library, as
Havoc outlined.
