building dbus and its configure options

The same questions pop up every few weeks on xorg-list too, so it's more
showing that people who cross-compile by hand (instead of using a distro
which does it for them) only cross-build the low layers of the stack.
Whether this is because they are building tiny systems which just need
DBus and X, or whether they eventually realise that doing all this by
hand is just madness, I don't know.

Poky/OpenEmbedded cross-compiles everything, and OE contains several
thousand packages including the entire GNOME stack.  For standard
autotool'd packages, cross-compiling just works out of the box if you do
it properly.
