support for authentication in dbus

Hi all,
I wanted to know about what all authentication mechanism are supported by dbus.

I came across these pages:

http://dbus.freedesktop.org/doc/api/html/group__DBusAuth.html

but I couldn't find any example(or sample code how to use the above)

I also came to know from someone that authentication mechanisms are
not supported by dbus, but when I looked in source code, there are few
files related to authentication.

So  I am confused now "whether or not authentication is supported".
