Yes, the watts up pro device didn't do this very well at all.

No, it's blank IIRC. :(

The WUP support can be disabled by changing EnableWattsUpPro=false in
/etc/UPower/UPower.conf, although upower should automatically release
the device if it doesn't respond with the correct replies.
