I'm a software engineer working for rPath, and contributing to the KDE edition
of Foresight, as well as a svn trunk build KDE distro [1]. I also help
maintain a MythTV distro and a handful of purpose built server distros.
I'm interested in figuring out better ways to do networking configuration
(i.e. that don't require a login session but still allows end users to make
certain configuration changes), as well as making the desktop
experience better. Things should just work, and not require lots of distro
specific hackery to get things done.
As a packager and engineer, I'm looking to reduce recurring and repeated
engineering cost to patching and maintaining a distribution.
Finally, as an employee of a company with concerns about shipping patent and
copyright encumbered media technology, I'm interested in ways of legally and
responsibly providing proprietary codecs to the end user.
I'm looking forward to improved inter-distribution communication. Glad to see
some OpenSolaris representation, anybody from BSD? Mac OSX/Darwin?
