[Fontconfig] fontconfig-2.6.0 gmake error

When building fontconfig-2.6.0, I get this error message after I gmake
it. 

 

gmake[2]: *** No rule to make target `FcConfigGetCache.3', needed by
`all-am'.  Stop.

 

I'm using a sparc-solaris2.8.

configure -prefix=<path>

Gmake version is 3.80

 

Has anyone come across this message?
