Do you mean: 

- try to keep supporting a22x on best-effort basis by providing fallback behavior where uncertain, or 

- ignore a22x completely and evolve the driver to a20x?

I'd swear those bits were merged in rnndb, but they aren't!
So the commit id in 1/8 was wrong all the time.
