May do. For instance, I use Debian lenny on ASUS EeePC. Some games
may be already in unstable repository, but I'm not yet that familiar
with Linux to switch to another repository and check it. I'll list
the most playable games I'd really like to see on debian.
outerspace (http://www.ospace.net) - Free online multiplayer turn
based space strategy. FreeBSD port is actually port of oslauncher, with
automatically downloads latest version of a game to dotdir and starts
it (not that secure, but at that time there weren't standalone source
packages for latest version. gotta recheck this). Everything written in
Python, changes required are only path fixing and a wrapper script.
trimines (http://www.freewebs.com/trimines/) - minesweeper on triangle
grid. The thing is that a cell has up to 12 neighbours and also there's
much lower chance that you have to guess.
Changes: only path to data directory.
qnetwalk (http://qt.osdn.org.ua/qnetwalk.html) - famous puzzle game.
There IS knetwalk which afaik is the same thing, but it pulls heavy KDE
dependencies.
avanor (http://www.avanor.com/) - roguelike closely resembling ADOM, but
opensource. Not my port, but the changes seem to be making it respect
systemwide CFLAGS and DATADIR.
open astro menace (http://www.viewizard.com/astromenace/index_linux.php,
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openastromenace) - high quality 3d space
shooter, previously commercial, then released under GPL.
Changes are datadir support, some CMakeLists fixes (merged into SVN on
sourceforge, but not in the tarballs afaik.
(googls says it's available in Ubuntu, but seems like not in Debian).
solarconquest (website dead, see [1], I'm hosting a distfile on my own
site [2]) - very nice 2D space action game. A pity it's no longer
developed as I think it has a potential, but still very playable with a
campaign of 5 missions and a skirmish mode.
Changes are: datadir support, using dotfile instead of saving config in
./ and replacing gcvt (which I believe is deprecated) with sprintf.
world of padman (http://www.worldofpadman.com/) - 3D action game based
on Quake III with it's own content. Changes seem to be numerous.
shotgun debugger (http://www.gamecreation.org/games/shotgun-debugger)
very nice, though for some reason no widely known top-down action game
with full singleplayer compaing, polished graphics and nice music.
Changes are datadir support.
reminiscence (http://cyxdown.free.fr/reminiscence/) - remake of DOS game
Flashback (requires original content).
changes: datadir support, dotdir support, respecting CXX/CXXFLAGS.
construo (http://www.nongnu.org/construo/) - 2d construction program
(physics sandbox). Althrough it's not developed since 2003 and somewhat
buggy, still quite fun.
Changes mainly to autotools stuff, can't figure out what they do :)
sdl sand (http://sourceforge.net/projects/sdlsand/) - simulation of
falling sand and other materials. Literally, sandbox. Quite addictive as
well.
uh, I'm getting tired, sorry. Remaining games I could remember, briefly:
Secret Maryo Chronicles^W^W^W (available in unstable)
BlinkenSisters (http://www.blinkensisters.org)
Worms of Prey (http://wormsofprey.org) nice realtime worms (aka liero)
Spring engine (http://spring.clan-sy.com) high quality strategy games
engine with numerous games available. There are at least 5 Total
Annihilation - based games available as well as some standalone one,
which may also be packaged I guess.
Variations on Rockdodger (vor) (http://jasonwoof.org/vor) - simple, but
nicenice time killer
f1spirit-remake, super transball, goonies - remakes of old games by
http://www.braingames.getput.com
There are also numerous casual games I'm too lazy to check and list
now, and some promising, but yet unfinished games (dunno what's debian
policy on including those) like hero of allacrost and thunder&lightning.
