------- Comment #16 from Emmanuel Ricou Schildknecht 2007-06-17 06:53 UTC -------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Gruessgott,

Tried out more in detail to open the MPEG with following software in this
order:

1)KMPlayer
2)Kaffeine
3)Totem
4)VLC
5)Xine
6)SMPlayer
7)gXine
8)Mplayer

1)KMPlayer:

Able to run the file but not on the KMPlayer window, there's simoultaneously an
Mplayer window appearing running this file, the KMPlayer remaining empty (black
display board), on the top of the empty KMPlayer window there is written:
„Adresse(URL“-files///.../(Xxx)Red Light District...

2)Kaffeine:

By running the file there's the sandclock icon turning a few times then nothing
happens.

3)Totem:

By running the file, the Totem player window appears, then about 0,8 seconds
after
there's the report bug window appearing, how ever it's a mini and not a fatal
system breakdown.
Also adding when I close the report bug window, both, Totem and report bug
window disappear without making further aparent problems to the system.

4) VLC:

Sandclock icon turning a few times then nothing happens.

5)Xine: for information see attachments 1 to 11

By running the file Xine window appears instantaneously with a warning window,
it reports the following engine error:

„Xine engine Fehler

Input plugin konnte MRL'/media/NERIENMETTR/Boules/(Xxx)Red Light District...
nicht oeffnen.

Die angegebene Datei oder MRL wurde nicht gefunden. Ueberpruefen sie diese
nochmals“

In parallel to this message there is the video display of xine displaying the
brand of the player in greeny and violett tonalties instead of the right
colours. Notice that kaffeine works correctly with other files than this MPEG.

6)SMPlayer:

SMPlayer runs the MPEG file in it's display screen without posing problems.

7)gXine:

The sandclock turns a few times after starting the file, then nothing happens.

8)Mplayer

By running the file, instantaneously Mplayer window appears with all in blue
content instead of the movie and in the task bar appears at the same time
„Fatal Error“,

Error opening/ Initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device. Mplayer
interrupted by signal 13 in module: unknown

„Mplayer crashed“, „This shouldn't happen“, „It can be a bug in the
Mplayer code or in your drivers or in your gcc version“.

Finally I close the window with Ctrl Alt Esc with the dead head cursor.

FINALLY

The most astonishing noticed in this question is that:

When opening the MPEG with KMPlayer which works going on positively, by
simultaneously opening in parallel to the empty KMP window a Mplayer window
displaying correctly/fluently the MPEG...

...there is strange that by opening directly the Mplayer shortcut on my menu
without passing firstly by opening with KMPlayer, so by starting Mplayer that I
receive the above mentioned „fatal error“.

At last the MPEG file has maybe a little and important hic, despite it can be
visualized with KMPlayer and SMPlayer, the icon of the mpeg is one of three few
files I have whose icon proriety is not to display one image or foto of the it
contained media but the icon simply displays a black „filmstripe“.

ALSO

What I'll try next is to start the file with Windows XP to see what happens.

Best regards

With Windows Xp on same computer (dualboot) Nero Media Player plays the file as
well as the Windows Media Player 11

The Totem player program of my laptop i 586 1Go RAM, Pentium 4, 2.66 Ghz
Toshiba with
Open SuSE 10.2 is also able to display the MPEG without problems.
